town . . .
Swakopmund, with its
German
character is the Holiday Mecca of Namibia...
There is a lot of activities that can be enjoyed in and
around Swakopmund to name but a few, angling, surfing, dune boarding,
skydiving, horse riding or camel riding and more.
Nestled at the mouth of the Swakop River, with the Namib Desert on the one side
and the Atlantic Ocean on the other side, it boast with surprisingly mild
weather.
The average temperature ranges between 15
to 25 degrees Celsius. Rainfall is less than 15mm per year. The cold Benguella current supplies moisture for the area in the form of fog, that
can reach as far as 140km inland. The fauna and flora of
the area has adapted to this and very much relies very much on the fog
as a source of moisture.
Four of the Major Banks can be found in Swakopmund, which will
cater for your financial requirements, including foreign
exchange outlets. Swakopmund also has two hospitals with a
high standard of medical services. Telephone and internet
services is also of a high standard and mobile phone
reception covers you on all the major routes.
Swakopmund also have at least seven state and private schools. A brand
new sport stadium which is under construction and nearing
completion, includes world standard athletic fields and
tracks.
